This script will automate the setup required to connect a Powerbook G3 series computer to a Palm Computing™ platform handheld. The script requires system 8.5 and uses the default installed text-to-speech technology to provide user feedback during the setup/reset processes.
First plug in the Palm™ handheld serial cable into the Modem/Printer port on the back of the Powerbook.
Run the script and click the Setup button. When the Setup is performed, the current AppleTalk settings are saved. Run the script again and click the Reset button. When the Reset is performed, the stored AppleTalk settings are invoked.
The script sets up for the Palm™ handheld by freeing the Modem/Printer port by setting it to an IrDA connection, turning AppleTalk on, and lauching the Serial Port Monitor application.
When you are done performing HotSync® operation(s), run this script again and click the Reset button. When the script resets, it quits the Serial Port Monitor application and resets the stored AppleTalk configuration and status (off|on).
